Exceptional handmade Rustic furniture in wood is, arguably, the most labor intensive of all the fine crafts.  A large, thoughtfully detailed  piece, with doors and drawers can take several weeks to produce and leave viewers of the finished project truly dazzled.  Farm Tables, chairs, coffee tables and beds, all, take many hours of concentrated physical and emotional effort to become realities. From the many hours of collecting the wood from salvagable sources, preparing the wood and lastly the assembly.

Unlike fine art, which is often priced according to the artist's reputation or "what the market will bear", the price of my furniture is a direct reflection of the time involved in producing it.  Although my pieces are more expensive than manufactured furniture, they represent a sound investment, not only as durable, functional objects, but also as rare examples of original design and craftsmanship in an age of mass production and discard.

In our rustic furniture we use a resource from our history, the antique lumber reclaimed from old barns, farmhouses and outbuildings of Eastern Kentucky. Some of the primitive barn wood has quite an interesting story as well as a unique character. In our country, ancient wooden barns are fast disappearing from rural farms all across the American Heartland. They are being buried in landfills or burned up in smoke which is not helping our Global Warming predicament. We try to preserve some of that heritage in each piece we create by recycling as much as we can of the ancient barns and their implements and making barnwood furniture and rustic furniture. The natural aging, nail holes and knots in the weathered wood accentuate the beauty of our creations. Not one board or plank is the same, each one has a unique and distinct character. Which makes for some very interesting and rustic furniture. You can see the history in the deep-set grain of our barnwood Furniture.

We hope you enjoy your  visit and we hope to see ya'll back here real soon.
